Mel Sloper

Presenter/Voice-Over Artist/Actor/Fitness & Dance Expert

With her Luna Park smile and engaging personality Mel has always been an audience favorite. Mel first boomed into our lounge rooms at just 7 years old stirring things up as the adorable little girl in the Tang ‘something’s stirring in the morning’ commercial. This commercial was followed by many more such as Coca Cola, Lifesavers, and Streets Choc-o-Bloch. Since then Mel has had acting roles in many of Australia’s top soaps and dramas, such as Home and Away, A Country Practice, Zoo Family, Heartbreak High and E Street, to name just a few.

Mel’s presenting experience also spans many years and is widely varied. She is fun, bubbly, and vivacious and adapts easily to any presenting style or product. Her hosting and infomercial experience includes Gym Jam for Channel 9, a field reporter for WIN Television’s Real Advice lifestyle show, 12 months as host for Kidszone infomercials on Cheese TV and Channel 7. Live host for Nick Takes Over Your Beach for Foxtel’s Nickelodeon channel and the on field host at many of the St George Dragons home games. More recently you may recognize Mel from either The Morning Show on Channel 7, Mornings with Kerri-Anne on Channel 9 or 9am with David and Kim on Channel 10 as the most predominant face of Guthy Renker where she gives you the lowdown on various products including Sheer Cover, Winsor Pilates and Core Rhythms to name a few. With Mel’s experience with live and scripted work you can always rely on her to adlib or perfect the script you already have in place.

Mel also has a passion for fitness and dance and is a qualified expert in these areas. Mel is a registered NSW Fitness Leader and has been teaching dance, including jazz and tap, and fitness classes in Australia and LA for the past 15 years, including the prestigious LA Sports Club. You may have seen her as the fitness ‘Guru’ on Mornings With Kerri-Anne chatting about the latest fitness crazes.

Mel has also spent a considerable amount of time in the US. Upon first arriving in LA Mel was immediately picked up for a new fitness and lifestyle pilot called Cheeracise where she was a presenter and choreographer and also helped out with costume design and music choice. Mel also completed two fitness DVD’s for the same company which have now been released in the US.

In addition to her acting and presenting accomplishments Mel is also a well known voice on Australian radio. First she worked at Triple M doing live-crosses from major events all around Sydney and interstate. Then, Mel was also a regular voice for the Australian Radio Network voicing numerous amounts of station imaging sweepers, ID’s, promos and ads for MIX 106.5, Street Kid promos for The Edge 96.1 and she was also the regular voice for the 101.7 WSFM Online Freebees promos.

Mel has always had a true love of traveling and adventure. While based in Southern California, barely a weekend went by that Mel and her husband didn’t visit somewhere new. From road trips to Mexico, to snowboarding in Canada and diving in Fiji, Mel embraces the typical Australian love of the outdoors and life experience.

And her biggest achievement yet…….becoming a Mum! In April 2007 Mel gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy named Jai.
